MCKINNEY, Texas (KETK) — It was a battle between two East Texas schools at McKinney Boyd High School on Saturday, as Martin’s Mill and Big Sandy met in the 2A Region II Championship.

It was an emotional contest for both programs, but it was the Mustangs who came out on top, beating the Wildcats 59-46, and clinching their first spot in the state torunament since 2015.

Martin’s Mill will take on Gruver at 8:30 a.m. on Friday at the Alamodome in San Antonio, and if they win that matchup, they will either face Shelbyville or Hearne at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, for the state championship.
