Kilgore College Rangers finally get their rings

KILGORE, Texas (KETK) — The Kilgore College football team won the triple crown this past season, becoming regular season conference champs, post-season conference champs and winning their bowl game.

On Saturday they came together one more time, to celebrate this historic run.

They all gathered in Masters Gymnasium on the K.C. campus, to receive their championship rings.

The Rangers started the season 2-2, but after losing on the road against Cisco College, they rallied together, and rattled off 8 straight victories.

After the season, head coach J.J. Eckert took the job at Northeastern State in Oklahoma, but there was no way he was going to miss this opportunity to celebrate his Rangers, one last time.

“It’s just an awesome day today, to be here and have this moment and see those smiles on those faces, for all the hard work it took to be able to achieve that,” said Eckert.
