Chiefs fan fighting cancer in Nashville gets support from Patrick Mahomes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – – The Kansas City Chiefs are one win away from the Super Bowl, but today Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes was already making dreams come true here in Nashville.

Courtney Campbell and her family live in Nashville now but they are from Kansas City and they are die-hard Chiefs fans.

Mahomes apparently learned that a member of the Campbell family is one of his biggest fans. 17-month old Kelly.

Kelly is also fighting for a win – against cancer. She has stage 4 neuroblastoma and is being treated at TriStar Centennial Medical Center.

Little Kelly has a Mahomes jersey, that her mom said she wears all the time.

“We noticed the Chiefs were winning every time she was in it,” said Kelly’s mom Courtney Campbell.  “So, we started posting pictures and then people were like, ‘You should tag him’ and we were like, ‘Okay’ and then people started reposting her and sharing her with him on Twitter. And we kind of noticed he started “liking” her on Twitter and then we got a football in the mail with a note from him.”

Mahomes sent his support to Kelly on that football – support Kelly’s family will return as they cheer him on.

Right now, Kelly is receiving chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and stem cell transplants.

Chiefs or Patriots… time will tell… for now we can all agree to cheer for Kelly.
