The playoffs for high school baseball are underway in Texas, and as teams look for ways to win a state championship, for two particular coaches it goes well beyond wins and losses.
For Mike Campbell, preparing the field is part of the fun. He’s the head baseball coach at Lewisville High School and he’s been leading the Fighting Farmers for quite a while.
But for the first time in his career, coach Campbell had to play against his son, who was the head coach in the opposing dugout.
“We used to play basketball against each other, and I never let him win. ha, ha. he’ll tell you the same thing, ha, ha. I didn’t want him to win,” said Campbell.
The scoreboard showed that Lewisville ultimately won the game but Campbell says, the real victory was seeing his son achieve his dreams, too.
