Central Heights' Grayson Rodriguez officially signs with Orioles

BALTIMORE, Maryland (KETK) - It's time to get to work for Nacogdoches Central Heights star Grayson Rodriguez.

Tuesday, the standout right-handed pitcher put pen to paper, officially signing with the Baltimore Orioles.

He was later introduced at a press conference, and on the field at Baltimore's game against the Boston Red Sox at Camden Yards.

Rodriguez gets a $4.3 million signing bonus and will report to the Orioles spring training facility in Sarasota, Fla., on Wednesday.

Baltimore selected the East Texan with the 11th overall pick in the first round of last week's Major League Baseball draft.

Rodriguez had a miniscule 0.187 ERA this past season, and 156 strikeouts for the Blue Devils.

The Orioles are hopeful that after some workouts in Sarasota, Rodriguez will join the Orioles Gulf Coast Rookie League team later this month, and possibly short-season single-A ball in Aberdeen, Maryland by late in the year.
