Schaefer defeats Katz for Texas House

Republican incumbent Matt Schaefer has defeated Independent challenger Neal Katz for the Texas House District 6 seat. 

Schaefer is a member of the Texas Freedom Caucus. According to the group’s website, they aim to protect “liberty-minded, grassroots Texans who want bold action to protect life, strengthen families, defend the U.S. and Texas Bills of Rights, restrain government and revitalize personal and economic freedoms in the State of Texas.”

Challenger Neal Katz is a Rabbi from Tyler who is a professor of Judaism at the University of Texas at Tyler.
