USA men's 4x100 team disqualified

Team USA’s men’s 4×100 meter relay team finished third Friday night but was disqualified after they crossed the finished line.

The disqualification violation happened between the exchange of the baton between the first and second leg, runners, Michael Rodgers and Justin Gatlin. Judges say the exchange took place outside the designated “exchange zone.”

Canada’s team originally finished in fourth place but has been moved up to third, earning them the bronze medal.

The Jamaican team, bolstered by Usain Bolt, earned gold medals, and Japan finished in second place.

Team USA still leads the overall Olympic medal count, with 105 medals, followed by China with 65, and Great Britain with 60.
