UPDATE: Lanes open and power restored after crash on S. Broadway

Tyler police say all lanes are reopened and power is restored to the traffic lights following Monday afternoon’s crash. Previous story below:

Emergency responders are on the scene of a crash resulting in a live wire situation on South Broadway Avenue in Tyler.

According to Tyler Police, at around 3:10 p.m., a car crashed into a utility pole at South Broadway and Winchester Drive.

A female driver has been taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries. Police said the accident is under investigation as a DWI incident.

Northbound lanes of Broadway are blocked while officers detour traffic through the turn lane. Delays are expected and drivers should avoid the area. Police said the scene could take hours to clear.

The telephone pole will need to be replaced after the car is towed. Oncor will be working to replace the telephone pole and work is expected to impact rush hour traffic.

Due to the work Oncor has to do to replace the power pole, the traffic signals are not working at the intersections of Broadway/Amherst, Broadway/Troup and Broadway/8th. Officers are actively directing traffic in these intersections.
