Tyler Lee girls soccer beats Longview, honors former teammate Anna Wegener


Tyler Lee girls soccer coach celebrated his 400th career victory as his Lady Raiders defeated Longview 8-2 on senior night Tuesday behind four goals from the program’s all-time leading scorer Carly Wyatt.

At halftime of the contest, in a special ceremony, the team remembered former teammate Anna Wegener.

The 2017 Lee grad who passed away in a car accident in May 2018.  “Live bold, whip often,” are the arm bands the Lady Raiders have worn all season in her honor.

They brought out Wegener’s family and members of Tyler’s Young Life as part of the tribute.

Wegener was on her way to a Young Life church camp when she died in Central Texas on I-35 just south of West.

On the boys side in Longview, the Lobos beat the Red Raiders 3-1 clinching a playoff berth.
