RUSTON, Louisiana (KETK) – Two people have been killed in Louisiana after overnight storms slammed into East Texas and the Pelican State.

Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker has confirmed two people have died after tornadoes hit the area overnight.

According to KTVE, there is no word yet on the identity of the two who died or if anyone else was injured.

Sources at The NewsStar say Lincoln Parish Sheriff Mike Stone said the fatalities occurred in a house near the Pizza Hut restaurant just off of Interstate 20.

The tornado caused power outages across the city and damage along I-20 and Highway 167.

Stone said emergency personnel haven’t been able to recover the bodies of the victims because it’s too dangerous.
