Train crew saved from flooding

The Kilgore Police Department reports their department has assisted with several water rescues and at least ten homes have been evacuated.

Police said some of the major areas affected are Turkey Creed, Houston Street, Stone Road, Pentecost Road, and the Highway 135 overpass.

Home evacuations have taken place at Andrews Street, East North Street, and Scene Street. Those impacted have already been removed from their homes. Video from one rescue was provided by a KETK viewer (above).

At around 3 p.m., rescue teams were dispatched to a Union Pacific Train where crew members were stuck near the Highway 259 bypass and North Synergy Park.

Officials stated the crew was trapped when water flooded the track underneath the train. A rescue boat safely retrieved both men at around 3:40 p.m.

Residents are urged to stay put and to not travel any affected areas.
