UPDATE (June 30) —–
Mark Breding is still recovering after he was assaulted by his 15-year-old son who also killed Breding’s girlfriend.
The incident happened at a property owned by the attorney on CR 3118 where both he and his girlfriend were stabbed by his son.
Unfortunately, Breding’s girlfriend did not survive.
After the assault and murder, a camera caught Breding’s son breaking into the New Zion Church where he attempted to steal a church van.
Officials who have seen the video say he walked down the aisles, through the hallway and into the bathroom, leaving blood along the way.
“I came to open the church up and when I was going through the process of opening it up, I decided to open up the front doors and I found that glass of the front door was open and crashed all up,” said Keithan Wesley, the Deacon at New Zion.
The teenager then abandoned his car on a nearby highway and was captured at a food stand in Upshur County.

A 15-year-old has been arrested for allegedly attacking his father, Mark Breding, and father’s girlfriend. The girlfriend was killed and Breding is in the hospital after suffering severe wounds.
The teenager was arrested after a tip to law enforcement.
Breding owns a law firm in Wood County. The Texas Rangers are investigating the crime.
The girlfriend has not been identified pending notification to the next of kin. The teenager will not be identified as they are a minor.
WOOD COUNTY, Texas (KETK) – A suspect is in custody in connection to an early morning homicide and attempted homicide near Quitman.
According to Wood County Sheriff Tom Castloo, the suspect was arrested just inside Upshur County after a 6-hour search.
Neither the victims nor the suspect were identified.
Castloo said the Texas Rangers are investigating.
