The PRCA Rose City Roundup, Tyler’s only professional rodeo, comes into town this weekend.
Before the roundup came to Tyler five years ago, there had not been a pro-rodeo in the Rose City for thirty years.
The event is held at Cross Brands Cowboy Church, and the action begins Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
One of the church pastors and event organizers, Nick Swinford, said each year, the rodeo has only continued to get better and more well known.
Swinford said there are several national champion riders and wrestlers competing this year, and one of the main events is the saddle bronc riding competition.
Over the two days, there will also be steer wresting and bare back riding.
The church is expecting thousands of people to fill their arena during the weekend.
There are also pony rides and a petting zoo kids can take part in, as well as food vendors.
Ticks are 5 dollars and can be purchased at retailers like Boot Barn and Cavender’s Boot City, or at the arena gates.
Children six and under are free.
