One person shot another in police custody after standoff in Nacogdoches

The Nacogdoches man who barricaded himself has been identified as Andrew Haffert, 31.

Haffert shot a man in the face during the incident. The man has not been identified but is in stable condition at a local hospital. 

Haffert has been booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail and booked with Burglary of a Habitation, a first-degree felony. 


One person is in custody after a SWAT standoff in Nacogdoches Sunday night. 

According to the Nacogdoches Police Department, officers were called to the 3600 block of Laurel Oak Street at around 8 pm. 

Officers were responding to a call about a home burglary. When officers arrived they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local area hospital. His condition remains unknown. 

It’s unclear how this unfolded or how the victim knows the suspect. 

At last check, officers were still on scene conducting a criminal investigation into the shooting. 

More information is expected to be released on Monday.
