October trial date set for man accused of multiple charges

A October trial date has been set for a man accused of stealing a vehicle and evading arrest. 

According to Upshur County district attorney’s office, Edwin Antonio Osorio-Lopez, 21, is set to be in court for a jury trial October 16, in Upshur County. 

On the night of November 17, 2017 Gilmer Police responded to a call that reported a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse SUV stolen at Shell gas station, on US 271. An officer observed the stolen vehicle near the intersection of US 271 and attempted a traffic stop. 

The vehicle continued traveling southbound on US 271 toward Gladewater, spike strips were deployed and all four tires deflated. 

Lopez is being tried for the offense of evading arrest detention with the vehicle, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault on a public servant.
