Millennials blamed for making American cheese lose popularity

American cheese is not as popular as it once was, and it may have something to do with millennials, according to a recent report by Bloomberg.

They say millennials prefer to eat more natural cheeses with a specific taste. 

Those cheeses are typically more expensive than American cheese, but millennials would rather pay more for the non-processed cheese.

According to Bloomberg, Wendy’s, Cracker Barrel and Panera Bread are just some restaurants that are leaning away from using American slices. 

With more quality product comes higher sales. 

Kraft Singles and Velveeta sales in the U.S. are projected to drop 1.6 percent in 2018, according to the study. 

Since 2011, studies show that the price of American cheese at the grocery store has dropped below $4. 

Bloomberg says while American cheese was all the rage for the baby boomers, millennials seem to be making it go out of style with the demand for better nourishment.
