Longview man charged with DWI following crash on E. Gentry Parkway

One man was arrested Saturday morning for allegedly driving drunk and crashing into multiple structures, according to Tyler Police Department. 

Tyler Police stated at 2:21 a.m., officers observed a white Honda Accord driving recklessly in the 2000 block of East Gentry Parkway. Officers noticed that there was a blown tire on the front passenger side before initiating a traffic stop. 

The vehicle pulled into a restaurant parking lot of 2410 E. Gentry Parkway before driving around the building and driving back north Gentry.

The driver turned into the parking lot of Town House Motel at 2420 E. Gentry. He crashed into a wooden fence and mailbox before striking a metal fence that surrounded a former hotel swimming pool.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Isiah Demon Curtis, 28, of Longview.

Curtis was placed under arrest and transported to Smith County Jail after running on foot north of the hotel. He is being charged with Driving while Intoxicated, Felony and Misdemeanor for Evading Detention, and offense of Duty on striking a structure. 

A 31-year-old passenger of the vehicle was arrested for Public Intoxication and there were no injuries.
