Who doesn’t love a Texas drawl?
That’s the apparent consensus at Big Seven Travel, an online travel, leisure and entertainment blog that loves to count and rank all kinds of things.
One of its latest lists is “The Top 50 Sexiest Accents in the USA – Ranked,” which is, well, exactly what it says: a ranking of what its 15 million social media followers voted as the sexiest accent in the country.
And the Texas accent came in at #1 (as is only right and proper). Of course, the list doesn’t say which Texas accent is sexiest – the East Texas, South Texas, Central Texas or West Texas (you know, that one where people drawl through teeth closed to keep out all that sand) – but we’ll take what we can get.
As for which accents filled out the rest of the list (does it matter?), the Boston accent came in at #2 (really? the “pahk yuh cahr” accent?), New York came in at #3, Maine came in at #4 and Chicago ranks #5.
Honestly, though, how accents #2-#5 came in ahead of the lovely soft, sing-song Hawaiian accent (#7) is just beyond us.
