City of Tyler website hacked by anti-government group

UPDATE (2:30 P.M.) – In an updated statement Monday afternoon, the City of Tyler wrote that the website is “hosted off-site by a third party provider.”

The United States Secret Service has been brought in to help investigate the hacking.

No payment platforms or government service sites hosting credit card and residents’ personal information were compromised.


TYLER, Texas (KETK) – The City of Tyler website was hacked Monday morning by an anti-government group.

The website now redirects to an image saying that “corruption turned political culture.”

It also wrote “#AntiGov”. The hack includes several F-bombs as well as anti-police rhetoric.

Jenny Wells, the City of Tyler public relations spokesperson, said the city “is aware and we are working to get the original site back up.
