Sixth annual Lego® designs contest kicks off National Library Week

Families are invited to create Lego® designs based on their favorite book at the sixth annual contest at the Tyler Public Library’s Story Room.  The contest will run from 3:45 to 6:45 p.m. for four nights, from Monday, April 4 through Thursday, April 7. Families are welcome to attend any and all events, but entries must be completed by 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 7. The Library will provide all materials while families provide the creativity and imagination.
“Each family will be given one building plate and building blocks to show off their creativity!” said Youth Services Librarian Linda Gray.  “This is the sixth time we have hosted this event and it is great to see families get together for some hands-on fun.”
Judging will take place on Tuesday, April 12.  Submissions will be judged in three categories:  “Most closely resembling a book,” “Most creative design” and “Librarians’ choice.”  First place winners will receive a Lego® prize package.  Runners up will receive a certificate. All entries will be shown in the Library’s display cases throughout the month of April.
For more information about this event and other programs, please visit, call (903) 593-7323 or visit the Library at 201 S. College Ave. in Downtown Tyler.
