Businesses along HWY 21 near HWY 96 are trying to salvage what is left of a tornado that hit San Augustine on Wednesday night.
Locations like the Family Fashions Imports near Brookshire Brothers and Family Dollar have major damage associated with them.
Brenda Hall is a clerk for a gas station in San Augustine, and she describes the storm as it moved in: “I came outside to empty the trash can, and it was really heavy and I couldn’t empty it. The next thing I know the trash cans were going up (highway) 21. We knew then something was happening. Then the rain started swirling, the winds started blowing and the building started heaving.”
Thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far. The power is out for all of the city, with no restoration time noted yet.
