Robber attacks victim in Tyler Home Depot parking lot

One person was injured Friday afternoon when a robber attacked them in the Tyler Home Depot parking lot.

Police said they responded to a robbery report at the business off the 3900 block of Old Jacksonville Highway around 2 p.m.

The victim, who was only identified as a man, said a black male came up to his window and asked for money. The victim told police he pulled his wallet out to give the man money when he was attacked. The robber began fighting the victim for his wallet and hit him with a stun gun.

The thief ran from the area with the victim’s wallet toward Bank of Tyler. 

The victim sustained minor injuries.

Police said the robbers was described as a black male, about 5’11” tall, chubby, and having either a gray patch or bald patch on the back right side of his head. He was also possibly wearing a gray sweat shirt.  

Anyone with information about the suspects involved in this crime are urged to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Smith County Crime Stoppers at 903-597-CUFF (903-597-2833).  Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any felony case.
