According to ESPN.com, Dallas Cowboys starting cornerback Morris Claiborne will likely have surgery for a sports hernia.

Claiborne was injured in the final minute of regulation against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night. It’s not known how long he will be off the field.

ESPN stated Terrence Newman underwent surgery for a similar injury in 2008 and was out for six weeks.

After winning Sunday night, the Cowboys sit atop the NFC East at 6-1 and are half a game behind the New England Patriots for the best record in the NFL.
