Red defense holds off White offense in Tyler Lee spring game

A big point of emphasis going into spring practice for the Tyler Lee Red Raiders was improving its defense.

It certainly showed in the annual Red-White spring scrimmage Friday.

The Red defense held off a late rally by the White offense and stopped a two-point conversion attempt with no time left on the clock that would’ve won the game for the White.  Instead, the Red celebrated a 31-30 victory.

“I love the way our kids competed there at the end we found a way to score, found a way to put it in.  And gave us a chance on offense to win the game.  Instead we won it on defense.  It’s a win-win.  Defense is a mindset.  Get out there and come on the field know you’re the best one on the field, and play with your hair on fire.  It’s fun seeing them out there having fun,” said third year head coach Kurt Traylor.

Lee opens the 2019 regular season on the road at Marshall on August 30.
