Power has been restored to more than 7,000 customers in the Longview area Tuesday night. Full power was restored around 8 p.m.
According to the SWEPCO website, as of 8:00 p.m., more than 7,400 customers were experiencing power outages, or more than 12.5 percent of customers in Gregg County.
Peter Main, a spokesman with SWEPCO, said an equipment failure on McCann Road in Longview was the cause of the outages. Main said customers experienced brief outages this evening and yesterday evening at the same time.
Our newspaper partner, the Longview News-Journal, reported Tuesday morning the the problem was due to equipment issues at a substation, according to a SWEPCO spokesman.
The company made repairs and was expected to continue inspecting the equipment on Tuesday.
