Police: Woman stabs man repeatedly at Jacksonville apartments

A woman who escaped police custody and allegedly stabbed a man at a Jacksonville apartment complex was arrested on Monday.

According to Jacksonville Police, at about 10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Creekside Village Apartments on S. Bolton Street on reports of a disturbance. When they arrived at the location, a man told officers an unknown person had entered his apartment and began stabbing him.

Officers reported the man was covered in blood and with cuts to the upper back.  According to police, most of the information the victim was giving to them was not consistent with what they were seeing at the scene.

Witnesses told officers and the man had been arguing with a woman and she was still in the apartment.  Officers knocked on the apartment’s door to speak to anyone in the apartment, and allegedly said to officers there was no one inside the apartment.

Officers could hear movement  and forced the door open to ensure no one had been harmed.  After making it clear they were entering, a woman stepped into the hallway and was covered in blood, including a cut to her hand. She would later be identified as Shamicqa Wilson.

Investigators  determined Wilson and the victim had fought with each other, and at some point, Wilson pulled a knife and stabbed the man numerous times in the back.  While stabbing the victim, Wilson cut herself on the hand.

Wilson was taken into custody and then transferred a Jacksonville hospital for medical treatment. The man was also taken to a Jacksonville hospital for treatment of his wounds.

While at the hospital, the suspect was placed in an emergency room. During this time, a drunk man began causing a disturbance in the hallway.  Officers had to help the staff control him, and while assisting employees, Wilson was able to sneak out a back door, police said.

Officers searched the area and found the woman back at the apartment where the fight happened. Wilson was once again taken into custody.

Wilson was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and escape from custody.  She was then taken to the Cherokee County Jail for processing.

This case remains under investigation.
