Officials issue 24-hour evacuation for some parts of Kilgore

The city of Kilgore has issued a 24-hour evacuation notice for several parts of the city.

Authorities issued a state of emergency shortly before noon on Wednesday.  The city has received about 8 inches of rain from midnight to noon.

The city of Kilgore has seen severe flooding in the area of Turkey Creek, Big Head, and Rabbit Creek areas. More storms are expected this afternoon and tonight, bringing several more inches of rain.

All residents in areas effected by rising water, or had rising water nearby, are to evacuate for at least 24 hours.

Shelter’s will be available at the following locations:

• Chandler Street Church of Christ, 2700 Chandler St
• St. Luke’s Methodist Church, 401 E Main St
• Forest Home Baptist Church, 15746 CR 173 N
