Veteran has no family but funeral home makes sure he is laid to rest in peace

Local News

Organizations like Veterans of Foreign Wars, Missing in America Project and even people from across the nation reached out to Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home to see how they could help a veteran with no family be laid to rest.

Gene Baker who served one full tour in WWII had no family or friends to be there for him so back in January he walked into the funeral home to make arrangements himself.

An official from Missing in America Project said, “we need to let people this guy wrote a check for his life, for our country and we need to honor it and honor him”.

A representative from Medford Chamber of Commerce will be receiving the flag for Baker.
