Tyler Junior College student receives NAACP scholarship

The Tyler NAACP presented a scholarship to incoming sophomore Kayla Mckenzie. The check was presented by Cedrick Granbury,President of NAACP Unit 6232 and with TJC President Dr. Mike Metke.
 
Tyler Junior College will match the Tyler Smith County NAACP Unit 6232 Scholarship for $1,500 with up to an additional $1,500 for McKenzie, who is on track to graduate in December.
 
“Mind blowing it’s one thing to be an honor student but it’s another thing to be a NAACP scholarship recipient so it’s double the enjoyment,i guess you could say,” Mckenzie, said.
 
Kayla Mckenzie is a John Tyler High School graduate, who participated in more than five organizations. She plans on pursuing a career in athletic training.
