There are almost 350,000 people in Texas who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease. Just this past weekend two local older adults wandered off from where they lived, but were later found and taken back home.
But if you think you see someone who has wandered off who has the disease, there are things to look for.
Luanne Harms with the Alzheimer’s Alliance of Smith County says be on the watch for people with clothes that don’t seem to match the season. For example, someone wearing a winter coat in the middle of summer.
If you think you may have spotted something concerning, the first thing to do is dial 911.
