Texas woman accused of shooting AR State Trooper

HOT SPRING COUNTY, Arkansas (KTAL) - A Texas woman is accused of shooting an Arkansas State Trooper during a traffic stop Sunday night.

State Police say it on U.S. Highway 270 near Interstate 30 in Rockport, Arkansas.

Trooper Kyle Sheldon was transported to a Hot Springs hospital.

His wound is not believed to be life threatening, but he remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Investigators say Elsbeth Tresa Kittinger, 49, of Fort Worth opened fire on the trooper as she was asked to step outside her car.

After shooting, she drove away and was chased down by Malvern police officers who fired shots at her. ASP says Kittinger was wounded by officers.

She's since been treated for her injuries and is being held at the Garland County Detention Center.

An investigation into the shooting has continued through the night under the supervision of Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division Special Agents.
