Many of country music’s biggest stars call East Texas home and a local venue is keeping all musicians inspired. At least four times a month, Songwriters Anonymous meets up at Love and War in Lindale.
Lyrics echoed throughout the patio as 13-year-old Macy Dot Neal sang an original song to a group of fellow musicians Tuesday night.
“I’ve wrote 30 something songs and so, music touches me,” said Neal.
She’s one of many songwriters who visited Love and War for a night of inspiration.
“We come and do this because it’s a little tap on your shoulder that won’t leave you alone and you don’t automatically know what to do with that,” said singer-songwriter Heather Little.
You’ve probably heard some of Little’s songs on the radio as she enjoys co-writing with Miranda Lambert.
“Her single was ‘Me and Charlie Talkin’ and that was on her first record, first single with her label and the other major one was ‘Gunpowder and Lead,'” said Little.
It’s at Love and War in Plano where Lambert got her start at just 16-years-old.
“It’s funny because Tye (Phelps) signed the lease for this place on her 32nd birthday, 16 years later,” said Rick Lambert, Miranda’s dad.
There’s no microphones, no amps and no pressure.
“You could be sitting across from someone who started playing and writing last week or from someone who has been playing for 30 years,” said Little.
While Macy has been at it for three years, she’s another artist with a dream and one day, she’s hopeful her music will be the next big thing.
“I get ideas about my songs or how they present their songs, what they say about their songs,” said Macy.
Songwriters Anonymous meets on Tuesdays at Love and War in Texas located at 114 E. North Street in Lindale. Fore more information, click here.
