Long time Angelina County judge and district attorney Gerald Goodwin passed away yesterday afternoon.
He leaves behind a legacy, being considered one of the most recognized and successful district persecutors in the state.
He earned respect in Angelina County mainly for what he did outside the courtroom.
“Judges have a unique benefit of getting great power and authority because of the position alone,” said Judge Paul White, 159th District Court. “But what he did was he earned respect in the way he exercised that power and authority, uniquely it was many times, more often than not, outside the courtroom.”
Goodwin was 76 years old and had been battling an illness.
Goodwin was known for many things in his career. To give more information on Goodwin, KETK has included in this story is the full interview with Judge Paul White.
