Police release security footage of Rotolo’s robbery

Local News

One person was arrested following the Friday morning robbery of a Tyler pizzeria.

Around 11:32 p.m., on Thursday, Tyler police responded to a reported aggravated robbery at Rotolo’s Pizza, located at 8970 South Broadway Avenue #148.

As they arrived on scene, police say a man, identified as Freddy Criss, 54, of Dallas, had just left the business in a red car and was pulling out of the parking lot.

Officers attempted to pull over the vehicle on Broadway, headed toward Loop 49. That’s when Criss wrecked the vehicle, got out and took off, police report.

After chasing him on foot, police were able to take Criss into custody.

He was booked into the Smith County Jail on four charges of aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and evading arrest.

Police say stolen property was recovered at the scene.

Multiple people received minor injuries at Rotolo’s after being hit by a gun at the time of the incident. Shots were never fired.
