Police investigating Tyler church burglaries

Church burglaries have been reported throughout Tyler over the past few months and have increased in occurrences over this past week.

The thief is forcing his way into churches by breaking a window or door.  Once inside the church, he looks for a safe or cash to steal.

The burglar has been caught on church surveillance.

The following churches have been targeted.

  • 6/27/16 Soma Church – 3421 Old Jacksonville Hwy                 
  • 7/25/16 Friendly Baptist – 1903 E. Front St      
  • 8/28/16 Peter and Paul Chapel  – 1435 E SE Loop 323 St.                    
  • 8/28/16 First Christian – 4202 S. Broadway Ave.                     
  • 8/28/16 Church of Latter Day Saints –    2401 N.  Broadway Ave.                     
  • 8/30/16 Pinebrook Baptist –   3606 Van Hwy.                                 
  • 8/30/16 Church on the Move – 1101 S SW Loop 323                         
  • 8/31/16 Fifth Street Presbyterian –    1616 E. Fifth St.                                

Anyone with information about the suspects involved in this crime are urged to contact the Tyler Police Department, at 903-531-1000, or Crimestoppers at 903-597-CUFF (903-597-2833).  Crimestoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and charges filed against the suspects in this case or any felony case.
