Police ID bicyclist killed in fatal hit-and-run; driver arrested

A bicyclist who was hit by a vehicle Monday evening in Longview has died, according to Detective Debra Stiles with the Longview Police Department.

Around 9:15 p.m., police responded to a call in which a vehicle, driven by Bryan Arnold, 49, of Longview,  had collided with the cyclist in the 3700 block of West Loop 281. The bicyclist was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.

The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Paul Price. Police said Price did not have lights or reflectors on his bike required at night time.

Authorities were alerted to the accident by Arnold who said he was involved in an accident in the 3700 block of W. Loop 281.

West Loop 281 between Enterprise Street and West Harrison road was closed off while police investigated the scene.

Arnold was arrested and booked into the Gregg County Jail on charges of failure to stop and render aid, driving while intoxicated and driving while license invalid.
