Officials arrest man wanted for armed robbery of East Texas Verizon store employee

MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas (KETK) - The suspect sought in connection with armed robbery of an East Texas Verizon store employee has been arrested.

According to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, Chaddrick Tremaine Johnson, 30, was arrested in Paris, Texas, and booked into the Lamar County Jail.

On Tuesday, June 19, around 8:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Verizon, located at 1009 South Jefferson Avenue, about a robbery that had just occurred.

While en route, the MPPD was told a female victim was held at gun point and the robber was no longer in the store.

Officers discovered the victim had been tied up was able to free herself enough to call 911.

She stated a black male, identified as Johnson, came into the store and asked for a phone that was kept in the back. When she went to retrieve it, the man followed her to the back.

Police say the victim turned around to see the man had a gun pointed at her. She said the robber took several phones and placed them in garbage bags along with some money. He then tied her up and told her not to move. The man then left the store and she was able to free herself to call authorities.

Johnson has a MPPD outstanding felony arrest warrant for aggravated robbery and has several other felony arrest warrants, including aggravated robbery from Farmers Branch.
