Missing Texas police officer found dead near home

CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas (KETK) - Baytown Police officials confirmed Tuesday morning the body of a missing police officer was found in his home.

According to the department's Facebook page, Officer John Stewart Beasley was found near his home in Chambers County, Texas.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and the hundreds of people that knew and loved Officer Beasley. I will put out more details on final arrangements as they become available," said Chief Keith Dougherty in the Facebook post.

According to the Chambers County Sheriff's Office, Beasley was last seen Thursday, August 2, when he reportedly walked away from his residence in the Cove, Texas area.

The search for Beasley has been ongoing since that time.

Dog teams from League City Alpha team search and rescue, and a K9 unit from Texas Department of Criminal Justice were called in to help with the search.

In a former press release, the Sheriff's Office said they did not suspect foul play.

This is a developing situation. KETK will continue to keep you updated as more information is released.
