A Longview ISD employee has been reprimanded after placing a full-size cutout of Donald Trump with a racially insensitive caption.

The Trump cutout was placed in the Longview High School’s library. The sign read “sign in or you will be deported.”

KETK was contacted by a concerned citizen who said the picture was spreading on social media, specifically Snapchat. KETK contacted the school via email and received an electronic response from a school spokesperson.

The district spokeswoman Sarah Lebus said when they were notified, the cutout was immediately taken down and the employee was reprimanded for expressing personal political views, which is against board policy.

Lebus said the cutout does not speak for the district.

“The cut-out and the actions by this employee do not represent the district’s views and we sincerely apologize to everyone who was exposed to it.”

Our newspaper partner, the Longview News-Journal, notes another photo shows a cutout of Hillary Clinton, which has a sign stating “Only deplorables use the other door!”
