With Thanksgiving right around the corner, local food banks in East Texas are preparing food and household items for those in need.
This includes members of the Helping Hands organization located in Kilgore, Texas.
Although the organization has its own staff members, that hasn’t stopped Kilgore College students volunteering their time to also give a helping hand.
Those students also said that “giving back to those in need is what matters most this holiday season.”
Although there has been a great turnout in previous years, members of the organization said that “they can never have too many volunteers during the holiday season.”
Samantha Banda of the Helping Hands organization said, “preparing for thanksgiving is a difficult task due to the traffic that comes in during the holidays.”
Members of Helping Hands and college students alike said that this is a selfless act that creates a memory that lasts forever
Helping Hands and local food banks are always open to those that need a little help.
