HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas (KETK) - An East Texas woman wanted on several outstanding warrants was arrested early Monday morning in Henderson County.
According to Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse, Rochelle Bowden, 26, of Eustace, was taken into custody around 3:00 a.m.
Sheriff Hillhouse says Bowden was spotted driving a stolen vehicle westbound on Main Street in Gun Barrel City.
Initially, she yielded to a deputy’s emergency lights, but then accelerated at a high rate of speed through the Hometown Cinemas parking lot, before turning north on Harbor Point Road.
A brief chase ensued when Bowden wrecked about 50 yards off the road into a pasture.
When the deputies approached, Bowden lying face down in the grass and resisted arrest by refusing to comply with the orders to surrender.
She was placed in hand restraints and booked into the Henderson County Jail on charges of resisting arrest, search and transport, unauthorized use of a vehicle, evading law enforcement with a vehicle and a parole violation.
“This kind of behavior by the suspect is dangerous, and I don’t take it lightly,” Sheriff Hillhouse said. “Running from our Deputies in the dark of night at a high rate of speed puts citizens, our people and the suspect in extreme danger. Resisting and evading arrest never works and just makes a bad situation worse for everyone involved."
