East Texas man who lost legs in April car crash getting help from the community

A fundraiser was held Saturday for an East Texas man who was seriously injured in an April wreck.

Nathan Davis, 47, is a rural mail carrier in the Lone Star area but was not working when he was involved in a one-car wreck, his family has said.

He has had both legs amputated and suffered other major injuries, and he remains hospitalized at Christus Mother Frances Hospital-Tyler.

On Saturday a silent auction and a cook-out was held to raise money for his medical expenses.

According to his family he is still critical, has had multiple surgeries, and is still on a vent unable to speak.

When he is released, he will go to rehab to learn to be independent.

They say because of four major surgeries the last 2 years, he is out of vacation time, sick leave, and is in a no pay status now.

A GoFundMe page has been setup to help pay for his medical cost.
