An Austin-area man has been sentenced to prison for the murder of an East Texas woman.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, Adam Solis, 32, took a plea deal on November 14, in exchange for a 40 year prison sentence for the killing of Katie Eager, 24, of Longview. He will receive 629 days credit for time served,

Eager was found in her Cedar Park apartment shot to death on February 16, 2015. Two days later, Solis was arrested and charged with murder.

Police say Solis fled to his parents house in San Antonio the night he killed Eager, returned to their apartment the following day and called 911.

In the emergency call, Solis said he had walked into the apartment and found his girlfriend had been shot and killed.

Police searched a nearby pond for the murder weapon, but were unable to recover it.

Eager was a 2009 graduate of Pine Tree High School where she served as captain of the drill team, was a member of the National Honor Society and editor of the school yearbook. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Sciences.
