Nearly two dozen people are hurt after a motorist plowed through a crowd of fans leaving Sunday’s Nascar Race at Martinsville Speedway.

Virginia State Police say a driver was attempting to pass another vehicle in Post-Race traffic when it struck the crowd of people.

At least 22 people were hurt including nine who were hospitalized.

Officials say most of the injuries were minor. The incident occurred about an hour after the race concluded and in an area where fans gather in hopes of getting drivers’ autographs.

Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor, but the investigation is still ongoing.

No word if any charges will be filed.
