About 100 East Texans are losing their jobs by Jan. 12, the Texas Workforce Commission announced this morning.
According to our newspaper partner, the Longview News-Journal, Dallas power company Luminant has notified the commission that on Oct. 31 it laid off 43 workers from its Martin Lake complex near Tatum.
Meanwhile, The Woodlands-based Anadarko Petroleum reports that it will lay off 58 workers by Jan. 4. Most of those workers are from Anadarko’s production office in Carthage, while three layoffs are from the Henderson production office, and two layoffs at the Oakhill production office in Longview, according to the workforce commission.
In March, Anadarko announced it would cut about 1,000 workers — or 17 percent — from its workforce, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Luminant had already announced last month that it was laying off 132 workers from its coal mining operations in Rusk and Panola counties.
