4 arrested in Lufkin robbery

Lufkin Police have arrested four people in connection with a robbery at a Family Dollar on South Timberland Drive.

Police said they took into custody Ronal Davis, 17, Arterius Griffen, 17, Darion Johnson, 18, and a juvenile. The suspect were arrested at Pinedale Manor Apartments on South 2nd Street.

Officers said four masked men wielding a sawed-off shotgun held upthe store at around 9:49 p.m. on Tuesday. They robbed the cashier and one of the customers before getting away.

They were last seen going south on foot behind Timberland Discount Pharmacy.

A witness saw the robbers go toward Pinedale Manor and another reported seeing a group enter into 912A. The renter of the apartment, who was not home at the time but contacted by phone, agreed to allow officers to go inside and check for the suspects.

At this time, three of the four alleged robbers tried to get away through a window, but were trapped by a fence protecting an air conditioning unit. All were arrested when the owner arrived with a key.

Authorities were able to recover rolled coins, cash, the gun used, masks and hoodies.

The suspects were booked into the Angelina County Jail.
