HENDERSON, Texas (KETK) - Two people have been arrested in connection with a recent string of church burglaries in Rusk County.
Jeremiah Boone, 20, of Henderson, and Christian Cannon, 20, of Yukon, Oklahoma, were booked into the Rusk County Jail Wednesday for burglary of a building on $20,000 bond each. During a Thursday press conference, law enforcement officials said the suspects will receive a burglary charge for each individual crime.
On Sunday, Henderson police responded to a burglary at the Wesley Chapel CME Church in the 600 Block of Webster Drive. The church reported someone had forced entry into the church and two safes and other miscellaneous items were stolen.
Southside Baptist Church on Old Nacogdoches Highway reported a burglary on Tuesday. The church reported several electric guitars, an electric keyboard and other electronic equipment were stolen.
Trinity Baptist Church on Kilgore Drive also reported a burglary Thursday, July 19. The church reported a mixing board, various electronic sound equipment items and speakers, along with a large flat screen television stolen. Police men say two men where trying to sell the items.
In all, eight various churches and businesses reported burglaries.
A Tyler business helped solve the case when they gave a tip to Tyler Police. Allegedly, the two men were trying to sell the items.
Burglaries have been reported for the past two weeks. This also include some vehicle and home break-ins. Henderson Police are still looking if more than two people are involved in the crimes. Property stolen from the churches has been located in Tyler, Henderson and Mesquite.
The investigation remains open.
