According to Tyler officials , the transportation company Uber has expressed interest moving into the city. The popular app attracts people looking to make extra cash to become drivers, and typically cost less than the traditional cab service.
“What does Uber offer that we don’t already have? Actually Tyler prides itself in offer the best that there most advance technology there is in transportation,” Jamal Moharer, president of NDMJ Transportation, the company behind Tyler Taxi Cab Service of East Texas.
The company has fewer regulations than traditional cab services, which some see as dangerous.
“We’re here to serve the public for their transportation needs and the elected officials are there to protect the public for the safety needs,” Moharer, said.
The city of Tyler has no timeline on when they will review the idea of Uber coming to Tyler.
