Kilgore’s region final opener suspended due to lightning with Dogs on top 2-0

News

A lightning delay around 7:50 p.m. Wednesday kept game one of the Class 4A region 2 final from being completed.

Instead, Kilgore and Benbrook will pick up the contest in the bottom of the fifth inning with the K-Dogs leading 2-0 Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at Dallas Baptist University.  The scheduled game two will follow after the conclusion of the best of three series opener.

The 30-7 Bulldogs took the lead in the bottom of the third inning on a Deuce Ervin RBI triple.  The next batter Connor Martin drove in Ervin with a single to left to make the score 2-love.

Texas Tech commit Chase Hampton pitched the five scoreless innings for Kilgore striking out seven Benbrook hitters.
