A Smith County Grand Jury has indicted a Bullard man who bit a Smith County deputy earlier this year.
On June 1, the Jury indicted Justin Carsten, 22, on one count of assaulting a public servant.
Back on March 14, the suspect was allegedly found naked and armed with a shovel in the 16800 block of Deer Cove Road, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Authorities believe he was high on a substance at the time.
The suspect reportedly refused to put down the shovel and was tased by law enforcement, however, he was not affected by the gun. When deputies tried to get Carsten under control, he allegedly bit a deputy on the leg.
Carsten and the deputy were taken to a local hospital. The deputy was treated and released.
The suspect was treated and released into the Sheriff’s Office custody.
He remains behind bars on $25,000 bond.
